Don't bother cleaning the multifunction. If the connections are the problem, cleaning will only prolong it's life by a minimal amount. However, since you're saying the fuse blows after being replace it sounds like a definite short to ground somewhere in the system. If you can get your hands on an Wiring diagram and a DMM you can easily determine where in the circuit this problem is.
I ran into this at work with a mustang about 2 weeks ago, there was a short to ground between the Junction Box and the General Electric Module. I ended up just running an entirely new wire between the relay (It was for the wiper motor) and the GEM.
Try the diagram and a multimeter first, free beats hanging parts and guessing.
