leaking oil
i took my mustang to a auto repair shop b/c I have paper plate size fluid spot on my garage floor under the back side of my car. You can see the passanger side muffler wet that is what I see. The repair shop told me the oil pan gasket needs to be replaced and my oil level is 1/2 way below the cross hatch on my dip stick. i just looked at it today. I changed my oil with royal purple 3 weeks ago at the same shop. Anyway they said around 500 for labor to replace my oil pan gasket. with the gasket being what 20 bucks cant I do this my self. I have done all my bolt on's my self and helped in putting my LT headers on.
I am afraid to drive it any where with the oil level so low. My car is only a weekend car so it is sitting right now, I plan to add a 1/2 qrt of RP oil in a few days when I have time to mess with it before I turn the engine on..... any help from my fellow mustang guys would be great!!! I dont have 500 to spend on that !!

you said your muffler looks wet?
Make sure you are in fact leaking OIL, which im sure you know is at the front of the car... If you have oil on ur muffler I would leak your oil leak would be fairly obvious. What is the source of the wet muffler? Add oil before you drive it anywhere for sure.

Replacing the pan gasket looks like a bitch, but you mentioned that you have LT's so I'll assume that you also have an aftermarket k-member, that might make it a little easier. You're just gonna have to crawl under there and get a look at it for yourself and decide if you're up to it or not.

they told me the oil could have traveled down when I am driving to build up at the muffler were it drips, Autozone and another place that deals with late model mustangs and ford trucks mainly dont beleive its the pan gasket but more likely the front seal. I have not looked my self yet but will tonight or thursdays forsure.
