Default Ball Joints on 97

I have to replace the ball joints. Dilema: One shop says I can fix just the driver's side alone and that's it. The other shop says if I replace one side I have to replace both, and I have to get an alignment as well. Jacking the price. Who's right???

Default RE: Ball Joints on 97

Do them both. You dont' HAVE to but, it's a 97 and with suspension components it's never a good idea to do one side and not the other. Besides, it would be cheaper in the long run to get both ball joints and one alignment vs. both ball joints (one each time) and have to get two alignments (one for each one replaced).
