Default Idle problem????

Hi guys, I just bought a 01 gt 5-speed. It may be normal but im new to the mustang and just wanted to ask. When I accelerate or just rev the car it comes down to about 1000 to 1200 rpms pauses for a second or 2 then drops down to the regular idle. Is this some sort of shift assist and if not any idea what it could be.My brother in law has had the car for 3 years and he said it has always done it. Thanks for your help.

Most cars do that, it also could be in the tune. Seems normal to me.

its normal man, for emissions, they've been doing it since the late 80's, and watch what section you post in this section is not for tech questions, you have a nice section that says "4.6L (1996-2004 Modular) Mustang" just a little further down for technical questions
