Default S/C setup

my stang is prety much stockexcept for an some x pipe (headers will be on this weekend) and magnaflow exhaustto come soon. i personally could not reccomend aftermarket internals - but any well known brand - manley, shm and the like would probably work well.

I based my post on a lot of posts I've read on stanget and corral where there seems to be quite a lot of engine failures from folks running more than 6 psi on2V 99+ motors.

To get into higher boost #'s (higher than 6psi on a 99+ gt) you'll have to doone or both of the followingtwo things, #1) run higher octane - more than pump octane - meaning you'll have to buy octane booster for every tank. or #2) lower the internal compression ratio - which means getting the heads worked on or getting new pistons.

running higher octane will help you out for a bit. you'll hear that the stock motor is good for up to 400 rwhp, what you don't hear is how long its good for. if you want a daily driver that will get 100,000 miles from the motor - stick with 6psi.

remember that sc manufacturers are out to sell their kits, they will tell you what you want to hear so you'll buy from them. if you aren't that cynical, here's another spin - perhaps,"it'll be fine," to the performance shop guys means 15-25k miles - while for you it might mean 100k +.

either way, good luck and have fun!

I emailed Tim today, waiting for the reply. I am not sure what you mean by elevation.... If your talking atmospheric then I am around sea-level or a little above (on the Mississippi river). Sorry for the naivete in this arena
