long tube or short tube? and catted x pipe or non catted x pipe
#11
I went with the BBK longtubes and a catted BBK x pipe. My car sounds surprisingly mild imo. I even have glasspack style mufflers and I don't have any popping at all, pretty much no raspiness, and it is only a tad louder than stock.
One thing that you need to keep in mind though, is that with longtubes you will most likely get an error code because the wiring for the O2 senors has to be extended because the bungs will be further down stream, so it throws things off and makes your PCM think there is a signal delay.
Also, my catted X pipe apparently didn't make my PCM happy. It would occasionally throw the cat inefficiency code for both banks.
I had bought a SCT tuner from American Muscle, and I was able to send them an email and get both error codes fixed. I'm not sure if my car meets emissions now, but since my state doesn't test it doesn't really matter.
Just food for thought.
