Did you check the inertia safety switch in the trunk? It may be tripped and cutting power to the pump. Also check fuses & relays. Could also be the neutral safety switch on the tranny. The list goes on. Best advise I can give you is to get the electrical diagrams for your year/model ride and start poking around with a multimeter until you find the place where power goes in, but does not come out. Good luck...

There is no neutral safety switch on our cars. At least not the GT's or cobra's from 96-04. Most likely it's the Inertia Safety Switch, if not that I would check fuses, if not that I would check for loose/broken connectors and broken wires.

I'll just go ahead and beat a dead horse and say I would check things in this order:
1. Inertia Switch'
2. Fuse
3. Relay
4. Pull the tank back down and make sure you didn't mess something up. Not being a jerk, but 9 times out of ten if something worked before you mucked with it and doesn't work afterwards it's your fault.

There is if the car is an automatic. Yes, you could get a GT in an automatic.

Neutral safety switch powers the starter, not the fuel pump.
