That's where I learned my lesson with my '06 F150. No more direct spraying anything in the engine area, just a quick wipe down.

Can anyone assist with an unrelated issue? I have an issue with my 97 convertible. It’s got a 4.6 5-speed manual tranny and recently the clutch started making slight grinding gears as I depressed the pedal. Now it rattles when I press and is loud when engaged. Please advise your thoughts on problem and possible solution. Much appreciated!

I see you are new here. Welcome aboard!

You are far more likely to get a response if you start your own thread. This question is not even closely related to the one you posted in.

On all my engines especially stuff that is being stored, I wash the engine with degreaser. Then while it's still wet I soak it down with WD-40. I coat every thing except for the belt. Belive it or not it will dry up in a few hours and shine. It also keeps anything from rusting and corroding.

I've heard that Gunk is pretty good. They have different cleaners depending on how nasty it looks in there. It's a decent price. There's two reviews on that gunk link. One is Pro and one is Con.
But what I've heard from my customers, they like the stuff pretty well.
