Default wont go into reverse?

this just happened today and has never happened before!! i have a t-5 trans, standard, with a b&m short shift.....

i got into my car and went to back it up and it completely will not go into reverse from neutral... doesnt even grind or anything. and goes into 1st-5th without any hesitation/trouble. one of my buddies was thinking syncros... but im leaning more towards the linkage or clutch not disengaging completely....

any ideas?

If syncros, it still should go into reverse with the engine off. I would look at the shifter first.

Reverse doesn't have synchros. It's in your shift linkage. It's pretty common on the t-5 and t-45 but usually putting it in second then back into reverse fixes the problem.

You didn't by chance try draining you transmission fluid by removing the large torx bolt on the side of the tranny did you?

t-45 is known for issues with reverse, as stated above there is no reverse synchro. Trying moving a little bit forward in 2nd gear then going into reverse.

Drain the fluid and check for metal, a quick tip is to refill it through the shifter. Trust me it's easier than doing it from the ground through the actual fill hole.

If you find metal just leave the tranny dry and get it to a shop.

I have had the same issue. It's just the T-45. Try going 1-2-3-4-5-R and it should slip right in.
