Default intake suggestions

Hello everyone, this is my first time to post so forgive me if I am not up to par with the proper forum etiquette. I got my '02 GT a couple of months ago bone stock, with very low milage. I immediatley hadflowmaster exhaust installed, and am just now in the position to add another mod. I am willing to spend around $250 for the best cold air intake I can get for the money. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

Buy a MAF, not a CAI.

Don't buy either right now. CAI's do nothing'cept look nice. Your mods don't warrent a different MAF yet.

Like fast one said get gears, but don't be a wussy, get 4.10's.

Look at a aftermaket x pipe too. little more than $250 thou.

CAI is a decent mod to do... I got one from Moroso. It's a fairly cheap mod and it will increase performance. I dunno about availability and price for your car, but mine was a C note and some change.

I think that the CAIis a nice way to go, I like BBK. I know it wont make a big difference, but it would look nice. There is nothing wrong to have a nice looking engine compartment.

Hi guys, I am new. Just bought an 03 GT & was thinking of adding a Densecharger CAI. I already have a DynaMax (Roushe-style) Dual side exhaust. I am wondering if I will get any perf. increase from the CAI? Also, how bout a custom burned chip? California Concepts does them and claims a 15 HP increase on average.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I seriously considered an off road x pipe, but I think that may be a little loud for my neighbors. I am definitelylooking to get performance out of an intake. Also, anyone know where I might be able to get a good deal on some springs in Austin? There has to be some people from Austin on this site....So much to do...

I agree with Dan. Cold air kits are for looks, not a noticible increse in HP.

Go with C&L MAF - You get the Mass air meter Dan is talking about, K&N filter, and housing to draw cold air in from the fenderwell.

If you can, also get the true-flow pipe. You can do this later, but it gives the MAF kit good looks under the hood as well as a more even channel for the air to get to the throttle body. Gets rid of the UGLY Black plastic SH*T!!!
