Stock HP on a 99 GT?
So i did some google searching on what the horse power of a 1999 mutang gt is. My friend has a 1998 GT, he said we have the same HP. This is my first SN so im not good with her yet. I still have questions and her engine bay is new to me. In the pas i bought foxbodys(10+) to build, race and sell for fun. I thought from 96-98 the stang put out around 215 hp stock? In 99-04 they upgraded the heads and other stuff and it put out around 260 hp? can ya"ll help me out and clear up my question? Thanks, i fricking love this ****! Im sooooo happy being back in a mustang!

96-98 Mustang GTs are dogs, slowest mustangs made since the Mustang II with V8s. Sorry if it offends anybody but it's the truth.
They have 215 bhp stock, but run the quarter mile in low 15s on a good day with a good driver and stick. Autos are horrible comming in at a meager 15.8s-16.5s.
The 99-04s are quite a bit more improved, hp jumped to 260 bhp due to a better head and intake design hense the name change PI (Performance Improved) motor.
The drivetrain also got a mild boost going from the 2.73 gear ratio to 3.27 with 3.55 options from Ford. In short the 99s are a nice bit quicker than the 96-98s out the box and respond better to mods. With a good driver and manual some 99s have broken into the 13.8 and 13.9 1/4 mile range, however don't expect that for you, most drivers run mid 14s with those cars.

Right on man! Thanks for the back up. I told that dude and he didn't believe me. Maybe he didn't want to believe me. Thats his first stang, my 11th-12th, who's keeping count anyway? I have all of my ex-babys(foxbodys) posted on the wall in the man cave. Minus the 99 i just got a couple weeks ago. And he's questioning me!? LOL! Fricking rookie's! Thanks again Rockwell!
