Radiator is at a slight angle under the turbos in the last pic, i have carboard on it protecting it during mock up.

How much of a gap is between the hot side and the radiator?

couple inches. last car had the turbine side almost touching never had a problem. much smaller rad then too. I have no doubts about the cooling ability. especially with the 2spd mark8 fan.

I was just curious about it I wonder how much of an effect that has if any on the coolant temps

I thought the same, but strikes me as only really gonna have any issue if im sitting still for a long while pulling heat direct off the hot ground. I think when moving in any capacity it'll probably good to roll. Plus, i dont really have any desire to run cooler then 180.
