I didn't see the check engine light and I'm in trouble now.
Driving home yesterday and got an audible note and noticed a charging system warning on the dash. I started looking around more and noticed the CE light was also on. I never knew where the CE light was on my dash and when it came on, I didn't see it. It was hidden behind the left steering wheel fork and the turn signal(thanks a lot Ford). I'm sure I drove it for quite a while before the computer started destroying things to get my attention. Also closed the canister selenoid valve so I could not put gas in. That happened the same day as the charging issue. The code was P0456 and shows a bad canister purge valve. I replaced the purge valve and erased the codes but still have the charging issue. Charging shows 13.2 volts @ 2,000 with no lights on.
Is there any way to save the alternator that the computer is trying to destroy? I really don't want to have to spend $300 on another one for no effing reason other than Ford screwed me again. Car is a 2006 GT with 50k. Ford techs welcome here!

It appears that the alternator itself is OK since it's providing sufficient charge to the battery. You might want to check the B+ connections from battery to alternator, from battery to BEC, and all the grounds from the engine to ensure they're tight and corrosion free.
You could also consider adding an extra ground cable from the passenger side strut tower to the alternator casing.

I had my '06 GT 'vert in the garage doing some service checks. I tried to loosen the lid on the air filter to check the element and one of the clips that fasten the lid snapped off. The other one is OK and I am not too worried about it, but I just wondered if there is a fix for this? Thanks in advance.
