93 lx 2.3l 5 lug conversion?
Hey guys, as you can see, I am new to this site and the the Fox body platform. I am in the process of buying a 93 lx 2.3l. I have been searching around on this site and other sites trying to find information on this but I am not sure what is needed. Is there a sticky for this or are any vendors providing this conversion as a complete kit that won't break the bank?

Hey Lexus, hope you're doing well. I must honestly say that I don't have an answer, but I thought I'd at least come out here and chat it up with you. Are you saying you want to change the lugs from 4 to 5? Did you buy the car? So are you wanting to convert because you already have a 5 lug set of wheels?

Car is bought but I haven't gone and picked it up yet. Very good friend has it. The car has 4 lugs on it now and I would like to convert to 5 lugs. I haven't order the rims yet because I am undecided on the conversion. I really want to do 5 lugs with disc all around on an 8.8 but don't really want to spend a large sum of money. I'm willing to spend up to $1000, but don't know if it can be done for that amount. Only really for the 5 lug disc upgrade is for stopping power as I plan on having about 450-500 rwhp and very streetable. I plan on daily driving it for a whie before doing any engine mods but would like to get the rims now and not have to but different later on down the line. Car will not be a track car.

Hm, okay. I see. I have never thought to upgrade to 5. But then I never really wanted to put too much power on my pony. I had a 302L once before and I went nuts driving all kind of crazy. Of course I was a lot younger then too. The car was still pretty fast, but I never had any issues (I think) with just the 4 lug system. And I had not upgraded to a disc brake system either although it had continuously crossed my mind.
I have had an issue or two with stopping ability with that drum brake system. You really have to learn how to pump and not press. I slammed on the brakes only once or twice before realizing I couldn't stop the car that way. Had to change out my tires once because I had flat spots on them from sliding to a halt.

I did the swap on mine for roughly $300.
I used all new edge stuff, including flexible brake lines.
Using new edge front spindles you will need to shim up the struts. You will also need to fab up an adaptor for the p/s front brake hard line to flex line. As far as rear axle pull one out of a sn95. You should be able to get all the parts out of a juck yard pretty cheap.
