Odd issue
We recently purchased an 88 convertible 4cyl. My son was driving home when the power steering hose developed a leak.
I bought a new hose, and a few days later on the weekend, I went out to change it out. The car was completely dead, and wouldn't take a jump. Figured the battery was old, so I replaced it. It started I drove the car up the ramps to replace the hose, but then the next day when I went to start it, the car was completely dead.
It's been at the shop, they've checked the fuses with an ammeter, checked for and repaired frayed/damaged wiring, checked all the electrical components, and they cannot figure out where the draw is coming from. You can jump the car and it'll start and run fine, but as soon as you turn it off, it's dead within a matter of hours. Any ideas? Did the power steering fluid short something out?
When we got the car, I did have to change the ECM relay, you could drive it, but then would have to wait a 1/2 hour or so to start again, it would turn over but not catch.
Thanks!
