Default RE: Are These Gears Junk?

thanks! very helpful.
ORIGINAL: mcfomco

I got lucky on mine the shims that where already in the rear end put me almost perfect on the pinion depth and basklash. I am only like 1-2 thousandths away from the center of tolerance measurements. From what I have discovered most not all but most 3.73 gearsets usually use the same shims as 2.73.

http://www.angelfire.com/theforce/5o...5ohtech001.htm this site helped out alot on mine good luck.

I talked to Brent a while ago (brenspeed.com owner) and he said that the gears are great, and they are infact motive. I would trust brenspeed.com with any performance part, I order almost everything through them.

Pinion Depth Setting Tool

or, alternate Pinion Depth Gauge for Ford 8.8

I don't know how accurate the gauge alternative is, I'll let you know when I finally install my 3.90 Motive gears since I have both tools.....bought the cheap gauge to verify if it's a reliable/accurate way of installing/setting them quicker.
