afr 165s are the complete bolt on to 5.0s right? and the afr 185s require some kind of work to mount to 5.0s?

Acording to AFR's web-site; the 185's have a larger 2.02 intake valve that most likely will not clear the factory pistons.
Not a problem for people building a fresh motor though.....

do the afr 165s make more power than the trick flows? which are more durable as far as out-of-the box quality?

I'm wondering the same thing as Hatch302. Which is better Trick or AFR?

IMHO; both heads are great heads. The difference between the two with similiar parts & testing conditions might show 5hp difference between the two. The flow & dyno comparisons I've seen show the heads pretty evenly matched. I do not have any personal experience with the TFS's & therefore cannot say anything more about the subject.....

dude go with afr 185cc, they require a little more work as far as notching the pistons for valve clearance, (MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SOMEONE WHO KNOWS HOW TO DO THIS TO HELP YOU) in the long run you will appreciate you did the 185's, those heads will handle well over 600 hp! where the 165's are good for only about 550-600 which is good dont get me wrong..... anyway afr's will make more power than tfs heads will......... PROVEN!
