94 gt over heating
ok here's my issue i just bought this car a few weeks ago now and already had to change the head gaskets by the way thank you norcalpit99 for all your help on the project anyways the head gaskets blew due to overheating i'm sure but my problem is even after the new gaskets i can't get it to stop overheating.....i tried burping it i even jacked the front end up so to allow the air to rise to the top and everything seemed to go well untill i put the rad cap back on the system seem to be building an extreme amount of pressure moments after putting the cap on, i have two new caps, it happens with both
new items= thermostat, all upper gaskets from heads up,rad caps, spark plugs
does anyone have an idea what would cause all this pressure

RE: 94 gt over heating
ok a little update for you guys i just bypassed the heater core and the problem is consistant
not to mention when the car was getting hot the heater hoses were merely warm and the bottom radiator hose was cool grrrr really getting frusterated
side question what psi should my radiator cap be the autoparts store says 16 but that seems like its a bit much to me but again i don't know

RE: 94 gt over heating
thank you everybody for your input...really it was all sound advice for anyone to check if they have similar problems so i'll get to what the issue was
its true i had blockage i stayed up till 4 am tracking it down and finally found it after pushing water through the radiator from all side and seeing that it had perfect flow i bypassed the heater core to see if that helped and of course it did not motherlol %$er so sitting there drinking coffee and smoking ciggs i figured i iether had a blockage in the block or a bad thermostat i check the easier of the two i pulled the thermostat and cleaned the surfaces of the block and the housing the thermostat was a 195f thermo i believe mine takes a 180f so i decided to test it by boiling it......i stopped the test at 204f and it still had not opened so i went a lil oakey since my region doesnt have any extreme weather i put it back together without the thermo and it runs fine even better than before actually......so again thank you everybody for your input you were still right on with the thought proccess.....and thanks again norcalpit99 for the help with the head rebuild
