Explorer Heads and Intake

Explorer Heads and Intake
I'd like to say HI to everyone since I just joined this great forum.
I have a stock 95 GT and was reading about the intake and head swap from an Explorer.
1. What year Explorershould I be looking for at the auto wreckers?
2. What type of machining, if any, should I get done?
3. What kind of HP increase can I expect with the intake and heads?
4. I assume I need the upper and lower intake from the Explorer.
5. What is the whole "P" rating for the heads.
Thanks for any info you can supply me with, and sorry if this has been answered already but I just can't seem to find it.

RE: Explorer Heads and Intake
1) Depends on what you're looking for. If you want GT40, then get one from before 1997 1/2. If you want GT40P, then you can look at 5.0's from 1997 1/2 and after.
2) Doesn't hurt to have them ported. If you want a higher compression, you can have the heads milled.
3) depends on a lot of other factors
4) If you take one, then you'll need the other. They don't match up with the stock intake.
5) It's something for came out with around 1997 1/2. Basically, they flow a bit better, have higher compression, and require special headers due to spark plug clearance issues
And welcome to the forums! If it helps any, I bought a 1996 Explorer engine for $350. That included everything and it could start and run. So the parts are cheap.
