as long as its not a PMS
ORIGINAL: luckythirteen13
that was my exact thought when i read that. if you plan to go bigger with the motor later on, aftermarket is the best choice you have
ORIGINAL: AdderMk2
that doesnt make any sense... you can use the same aftermarket system on the big motor

dont wanna go with anything aftermarket as the engine will only be in the car for a short while before the 408 goes in...

RE: list of ECMS?
A9L manual only, mass air
A9P manual or automatic, mass air
both work good. if they were the same price in a stick car i would buy the a9l.
there about a hundred bucks exchanged from a parts store. $75 or so from a junkyard.

RE: list of ECMS?
A9P and A9L can be directly interchanged.
I agree that PMS kinda crappy. If you are going to get into tuning, then do it right.... Don't use a 'signal modifier' (yes you can get decent results with the pms, but it isn't ideal).
The stock ecu's will do quite well with larger motors. Camshaft design will have a bigger impact than CID will.
I ran my 408w quite well on the factory X3Z, and a cal'd MAF for several months while I was shopping for a tuner.
I have a link at home for a list of MANY 5.0 MAF ecu's. However, due to my recent bannola under my original screen name, I can't log in here from home.
Go to my site, contact me that way. Be sure to send meyour email, and I will send youa link to the site...
Good luck guys,
jason

That's the link I couldn't find at work...
In reality, the differences between the A9L and A9P are so minimal, that the 2 ecu's can be directly interchanged.
