RE: Carb guys, need some input!
I run the Weiand Action plus(the new AP+ 8124) for 289/302. With that manifold and heads and a cam, the car hauls. Don't get a manifold based on the power or performance you THINK you'll get from it, get a manifold that MATCHES THE RPM RANGE OF YOUR PARTS. If you put an RPM on a stock 302 it'll be slower than a regular Performer will, or even the stock manifold. A Performer on an engine with a cam that runs from 3,000-6,500+ will strangle it at the top end. Get a manifold matched to the rpm range of the car. For the street, stick with a dual plane, the RPMis ok if you plan on building something that'll eventually turn 6,500 rpm(honestly). But let's be honest here guys, I've met VERY few people that havea street car that utilizes the entireRPM manifold. If you turn a car to 6,000 you'll be better off with a Weiand or Eddy low rise dual plane, sine the RPM will make a bit more power from about 5,500-6,000(note I said a bit) but a smaller manifold will make more power from idle-5,500. Do you really wanna trade hp everywhere to gain hardly anything up top? Most small low rise dual planes will breathe just fine out to 6,000rpm and are better matched to a street profile cam/heads.
