Default overheating help

hey my buddy has a 95 5.0 and it overheated on his way TO the beach and he drove all the way to the beach and home just adding water every few miles not letting it cool. the water pump works, its a new t-stat, the fan works, the rad is new, and we are stumped. it has oil pressure and the oil in it is not milky or off color and has no particles in it. any help would be great thanks

how do you know the water pump is good?
and with those new parts, it could be air.

The thermostat could be bad even tho its new. Feel the upper and lower rad. hoses when the car starts getting hot and see if its flowing or not.

no apparent leaks any where droptop? are you sure its the correct thermostat, also check the thermostat for sticking. if you pull the thermostat out and run it for a while and it doesnt get hot then it could be sticking intermintently. at worst it could be a burned piston. the way to tell this is to pull the spark plugs out and turn it over, if water shoots out the spark plug hole then its a burned piston, or you can pull the radiator cap with the plugs out and bubbling will indicate this also.

It is possible it could have a blown head gasket even tho water and oil arent mixing. I had a blown head gasket in mine. The piston was actually forcing the cumbustion into the water jacket and making it overheat.
