pinion shaft retainer bolt?
hey guy's ive been bussy all day taking the 8.8 out of my fox and ran into a road block, the pinion shaft retaining bolt is frozen and i cant get it to turn, any ideas of how to get it out, im replacing EVERYTHING so if all else fails is there a way to cut it out, (looking for other ways first though that is just a last resort) thanks for the help

RE: pinion shaft retainer bolt?
I hope you have a big enough torque wrench to put it back on. I dunno how the 8.8's are but on my 8" the pinion gear locknut has to be tightened to 170ft-lbs or more to get the appropriate amount of rotating torque on the pinion bearing preload

He's talking about the little 5/16" bolt that holds the pinion shaft in the carrier. It should've just popped loose. Id deffiantley get a new one if you plan on rebuilding the traclok.

yup, i used a breaker bar and my leg, when u tighten it up, just tighten it till u get the front and back ply out of it and u will be fine but you will have to shim it up first before the final assembly.
