Default Combustion Chamber/Intake Cleaning via Water

ok i got a kid up front at the counter at my work that thinks he is the smartest kid since sliced bread, and he is also a BIG bull****ter.
he tells storys where you just know he is lying through his teeth the whole time, but he is telling it like he actually believes it, ya know?

anyway, i walked by a can of seafoam in front of him and asked him if he knew what it was. he said "yah, but water works better"
after asking him "huh?"

he says, you get the motor piping hot. beat it up for a good half hour. take it home, and run water through a vacuum source.
according to him, carbon expands as its gets hot, and water can actually seep into it, and somehow has the ability to pretty much dissolve carbon once it cools a tiny bit.

thoughts?

I'm not so sure it works "better" but you can use a small amount of water for cleaning purposes. That's aprt of the reason why seafoam doesn't do a lot for my car. The water / methanol injection steam cleans the cylinders under boost

The kid is right, but has totally the wrong idea... It's an OLD trick and the idea is to pour a SMALL amount of water down the carb of a running motor, just like Samseed said...

Same kid will probably tell you that a chunk of your belt can replace a main bearing to get ya home... Works good on a Model-T so it must be universal truth!

Why not just unhook the exhaust at the headers and dump uncooked rice into the intake while as high rpm. This was they did "back in the day" to blast out carbon.

And it seemed to work reasonably well back then, and from what I'm reading there still using it today.

water only works to clean cumbustion chambers the kid's half right but is an idiot when it comes to the theroy as your cumbustion chambers are super hot water is cold .....so what happens if you pour hot water on your windshield in the winter when it's all iced up .....it cracks so pouring water through a vaccum sourch basiclly when it hits the cumbustion chambers shatters/flakes off carbon deposits however there are much better ways to do it today with induction cleanings that clean not only the cumbustion chambers but also your intake and throttle body all at once........so kick the kid in da' cocos!!!!

That's what I was talking about. Well, not that particular company but they're basically the same. They aren't used for cleaning though. Cleaning is just a side effect. They are used to lower intake temps while slightly raising octane in (mostly) forced induction cars.
