Headlight wiring issue **SOLVED**
K so the story is that my high beams come on (but a bit dimmer than normal headlights are) whenever the key is in the on position. Other than that the headlights and highbeams all work normally like they should. Im guessing someone wired the car before me to do this as a safety thing incase they forgot the lights off. But I want to undo this. The previous owner wouldnt have done the work herself, she always brought it into shops so Im guessing it was professionally done. Where should I be looking to undo this? There's no signs of extra wiring aroudn the headlights. Should i be looking under the hood or under the dash? Is there any other way to have this done without changing wiring, possibly a relay of some sort? thanks guys.

RE: Headlight wiring issue
Sounds like you have Daytime Running Lights--required on cars built for sale in Canada beginning in the early nineties(always req'd in Europe). The DRL are always on, except when you engage the parking brake, and are either the high or low beams operating at a reduced voltage. I've heard that they can be disconnected through re-programming the computer, etc, but that's probably for the newer cars. My work requires that we have cars without DRL, so the techs install atoggle switch in the console to turn them off. I don'tknow what wiring they cut into to do that; but it seemssimple enough. Good luck.

Hmm ya thats what i thought it was before. It is the highbeams running at a lower voltage. When i asked here before no one else had it, and my old mustan gonly did it sometimes. As far as I know none of the other mustangs around here do it. I really want it gone because i like having just the running lights on.

Well i talked to a mechanic i know that also owns a mustang and he showed me where the thingy is for the daytime running lights. Its inside the driver side fender. Its a little module with a plug. The red/black wire is the wire to cut. I cut her and taped her up and everything works perfect. If anyone else needs ot do this message me and I can give better details and take some pics.

One was a chime reminder, the others, some sort of relay boxes[&o], also found multiple bad ground connections, that had high resistance values.
