Default Oil leak

Car seems to be loosing oil. Dont know where its going. I know a little bit about the issue. valve covers were leaking fixed that. pan was leaking fixed that. when had tranny pulled i had someone do it and I had them check the rear main seal. they said it looked good. but yet it still leaks. I seem to find oil on the bottom of the bell housing its a auto aod. Do they make a dye that I can put in the oil?? I really want to find out where its going. do you think its getting the the combustion chamber. Theres no smoke blue or gray only some when its cold but thats usual. I really want to get this oil problem done with. I dont want to rebuild if I dont have to. Motor runs strong as is even with 168,000 miles on it. I'm going to have the whole upper off almost because I want to put my new throttle bodie on and I want to do it out of car and I;m going to clean injectors while im there. So should I check for anything while im in there. Car as a high volume pump. When I did my oil pan at school last yea my teacher told me to get a high volume oil pump so I did. I notice sometimes if I rev it up high for a period of time it will say low oil. But then if I let it sit for awhile it will all go back down.. Is it worth keeping the high volume pump in? Also does anyone recommend using sea foam and what can I use next oil change to like flush the oil and what oil do you recommend with that type of milleage. I know some or maybe all of those questions are newbie questions but I just want to get the right answers.

Your teacher is a fool!!! and a boob for telling you to get a hv pump a stock motor doesn't need it for one and #2 it'll pump a 5qt pan dry on exteended periods of long revs or rpm's.... as for the dye napa sells it for oil and all you need to identify it is a uv light I usually use a led light it works almost as well. all the hv pump is doing for you is robbing power and oil capacity in the pan or lack there of.[&:]

Should I think about replacing it? The oil pump im talking about. I know its hard and its a job and a half. I will put it on a list of things to do if and when I pull the motor.

clean everyting good make sure your oil is full put the dye in it and let if run for 20min or dirve it then check it with a ultra violet light. you have 168K on the engin you might jus be buring a bit of oil. No enough to make it visble in to see blue smoke but low much you losing lets say over a week

i am a tech and i have used sea foam,bg induction clean and i have also used wynn's induction cleaner .all the products seem to do a good job but there is also a proper way to do the induction clean.most people take the vac off the brake booster and do it from there and it works ok.from my experience the best way to do it is to remove the vac hose from the booster and at the other end at the intake and install the shortest hose possible to the intake to get the job done,by doing this u reduce it from a striaght stream to more of a mist which will more equaly dispurse the solvent.
