Default help with timing on 94 mustang gt

my mustang is all stock but it was wondering, if I set the timing from 10* to 12* will it improve my cars performance, you know will it respond quicker or does it even matter. What timing should i set it at? And if I do change the timing does the type of gasoline I put in it matter?

Typically, advancing the timing will result in a gain in power and throttle response. However, it also typically requires a higher grade of gasoline. You should probably be able to get it up to 16 degrees with 93 octane gasoline. But as always, if you hear pinging then back it off a degree. An increase in 6 degrees will probably gain you around 12 or so HP.

the thing about that is were I live the highest octane available is 91 octane, so what would you recommend my timing to be, and how much hp increase will I get?

Most people see gains of 1 - 2 hp per degree of timing. The best thing you can do is get a full tank of 91. Then adjust your timing 1 degree at a time. After each degree, go out, hit WOT, and listen for pinging. If you hear pinging, back it off a degree. If you don't hear pinging, add another degree.

If you haven't already, get rid of that stock air silencer as well. That is a free mod and will free up some HP. If you have a little cash, replace it with a nice K&N air filter.

Iset my timing at 14* when i was completely stock and it worked perfectly. try 14* and it should be right on bro. and give you alittle more throttle response.
