Put a bell housing bolt in the block and a clutch plate bolt in the flywheel. Then get a piece of wire or rope and loop itaround the two bolts and tie it in a knot. That will keep the motor from turning when you ratchet the pulley bolts off.

You can also put a long breaker bar on the ratchet and give it a real quick snap. It will break it loose if you do it quick enough. If you can't manage that, put the ratchet on the bolt, hold the pulley with one hand and tap the ratchet with a hammer.
