if its a v8 and it comes out of one pipe then it has to have some sort of Y pipe. convert to full dual exhaust with some longtube headers, you will enjoy that

There are two exhaust manifolds, there's no way it can only be one pipe.

eactly, two manifolds, then they come down and merge somewhere in the midpipe, then go to the single muffler, then go the tailpipe

because thats how the exhaust was until 85 or 86

to run a dual exhaust system, you will need to get your hands on a newer model crossmember, known as the "double hump crossmember"

I seen a 84 sitting in a parking lot at Lowe's the other day with that exhaust and had to drive by again to get a better look. Your exhaust will merge before your trans crossmember, hense why adder said you willneed the doublehump to upgrade your exhaust to true duals, then go straight back to the muffler and out the one side and split at the tip as you see there.
