Default 1984 Mustang

I found a 1984 mustang GT 5-Speed for $400(it needs some engine work), originally I was looking for 87-93 mustangs, but this one seems to have fallen into my lap. Are there any disadvantages with the 79-86 models(other than a little less power, I'll be overhauling the engine and doing some mods anyways)?

Thanks!

no not really.. well a few... 85 and below have weaker rears = 7.5.....exhaust sucks.. 84 has manifolds.. but all in all nothing bolt ons can't correct... it'll be easier to tune and you can do it as it shopuld be carb'ed unless it's a cfi version[:'(]

What would the ideal replacement for the 7.5" rear be?

Just out of curiosity, what's a fair price for an 84 GT in good running condition?
