what is the difference between AFR's emission and non emissions legal heads.

look at the valve sizes.... smog legal will be 1.9/1.6

the non legal will 2.02/whatever

this is probly a stupid question but is there any way i could pass emissions with the non legal heads?

the emissions heads also have the thermactor ports thru the exhaust also

passing the sniffer is not the problem, if you have a visual, you can get popped for not having a CARB number on them

not every smog tech will catch it...but if they do you have issues

i passed a sniffer in cali w/ long tubes, no smog pump and no cats

but obviously it would pass the viz

^^^^^^that's not true!! I have afr 185's that are emissions leagal with the thermactor plugs installed at the rear of the heads and the exhaust crossover on the intake side ...which I have blocked off.. I got emissions heads just incase I ever had to go through emissions..but live in a state where we don't have it..and mine are 2.02/1.60 valves...they make them both ways

not really...thermactor ports are at the back of the head that are hole by which air is injected into the exhaust ports which mixes with the exhaust gases and inturn the reaction that occurs heats the cats up quicker to reduce emissions on initial cold start ups
