Cannot stress this enough, take pictures! Just like Yenko said. Ideal would be a Digital camera that you can take as many as you want, and you can never have too many pictures, And I know this goes without saying, but take your hood off.

Use PB blaster instead of WD40. works better.

+10000000 especially if you have never taken off the bolts from the h pipe to headers. I used PB and still busted two sockets.

If your gonna pull it yourself you might wanna go ahead and put it in yourself as well. This will save you money in the long run. I work on cars for a living keep this in mind. If someone brings me something they have already torn down or tried to fix their self and got in trouble with it. I still charge the same price as doing the entire job. Due to having to find all the correct bolts and fix the screw ups they have made during the attempt they made.

Like others have said, it is not that difficult of a job. That said, $1000 for the job is CHEAP! If you don't have the time or desire to do it, that is not a bad price. Considering how long the 5.0L has been out of production, I wouldn't put any used one in that hasn't been rebuilt.

Good luck!
Jeff

I pulled my engine out over the weekend. Never doing it before took me only a total of 5-6 hours and I wasn't rushing.
