Default 4 to 8 factory tach operation

mornin guys! got a question about my 4to 8 conversion concerning the factory tach, is there a way to hook this tach up to work with the v8? or is the tach meant for the 4 banger only? i know that from reading the tachs arent all that accurate but for street duty it should be fine. thanx

4 cyl tac goes to 6 grand and is calibrated for 4 cyl...you'll need a 7 grand 5.0 tac

I don't know about the 87-93 tachs but my 83 has a little tab under tha tach on the front of the instrument panel that takes just a turn with a flat head screwdriver and I can go from 4-6-8 cylinders. Just realized yesterday that I still had mine set on 6 so I thought my 306 was rappin out to 6 grand when it was only hitting like 4.

If that is the only reason to switch. I wouldn't switch. Many Mustangs, especially stock ones can get by with a 6000rpm tach. Most shift at 4800-5200 anyways.

Is there a way to get a 4 cyl dash to work with an 8 cylinder ignition pulse?
