Oil leaks???
I just purchased a 1986 mustang GT, 23000 miles. There is a lot of oil leaking down the back of the engine, I can see that the valve covers a leaking some, but is it common for the intake to leak along the back edge of it also. Also can you change the valve cover gaskets without removing the upper intake plenum?? Looks like the throtle body has to come off for sure.
Thanks

RE: Oil leaks???
^^^^ yeah its the rear main. My cars rear main went out at 48k. They tend to dry up or crack if not driven often.
You should be able to change/ look at the valve w/out removing the upper intake. I have the Power Products u/l'r intake and when i blew lower intake gasket. I removed the air intake tube, tb, upper intake, and moved around a few plug wires and i was able to get my valve covers off (polished them up nothing was wrong with at all).... Changin' a lower intake gasket though, is a bi*** in its self.
Also check your front main seal as well, behind the crank pulley... just look for little leaks. Best thing to do is put it on a lift.
