Clock light out and odometer not working

Clock light out and odometer not working
The clock on the dash of my 94 has stopped illuminating. I checked the fuses and they're good. I pulled the clock out and took it a part. Therereally aren't any bulbs. The clock is soldered to the circuit board. There seems to be a small burn mark on the side of the screen. Never really heard of these things burning out.Any ideas as to what else it could be?
Also, around the same time that my clock went out, my odometer stopped spinning. I'm wondering if the two may be related in some way. The only thing I can think of is about a month ago I replaced my clutch and obviously had to drop the tranny andunhook the speedometer cable and entire wiring harness that goes with it.Maybe Iput the wiring harnesstoo close to something hot and it burned through some wires. I haven't had time to get under there yet. Any ideas on either one of these?

RE: Clock light out and odometer not working
I was thinking about buying a new cluster anyways because mine has some type of stain on the inside I can't get to. If I just by a new or used one will my odometer automatically update or do I have to do something to get the right mileage on it?

you'd have to spin it up to the right mileage if you got a new one, or say screw it since it should be ommitted from odom reading. but the reason they stop working is because the gears in the back of the cluster get stripped out and wont spin anymore

if you wanna pull it, you could clean that stain and put the gears in it, they're only 40 bucks

only way to retain correct milage when using used parts for an sn-95 is have cluster sent out since it's electronic = no cable on the back I believe

i own a 95 with the same problem so i would know how they work. they arent cable based like my fox was they have a vss that sends speed to the ecu and that runs the speedometer and the speedometer turns the gears just like any other style cluster, it was the start of electronic control. you can pull the rods out of the back and spin the numbers, i did it in 86 white ponys, he got a new gauge cluster and i set it up to the right mileage
