Default Wheel bearing

So recently any time I drive in the rain or through a puddle, the pass. side rear starts making a clunking sound, especially when I go to slow down. I was thinking wheel bearings. I pulled the drums off and it appears to be a one piece deal where the axle has to come out. I have never pulled axles before, is it a hard job? Does this sound like it could be the problem?

I would consider it a semi tough job and I have done it under 2 hours before. You will have to pull the wheels, brakes, differential cover, unbolt the carrier cross pin retaining bolt and slide the cross pin out, remove the c-clip for the axle you will removing then slide the axle out. Carefully pry the axle seal out then using a bearing puller with a slide hammer pull the old axle bearing out, it will be a little tough but once it starts moving it is not to bad. Intsall the bearing and seal using the bearing/seal driver, you can rentit from Autozone. Reassembly is opposite of tear down. Good luck, it'sa very doable job just take your time and do it right the first time, seals andaxle bearings are sensitive

^ good explanation

once you know what you are doing its not hard at all, it might take some time, but its not bad

Took me about an hour, not bad considering I have never done it before. I will finish it up tommorow and see what happens next time it rains. I think it was useless though because the seal looked good so I don't think that was my problem...

Sooo, what part in the rear would "clunk" when it got wet? Thats the only time I hear it is when I drive in the rain or go through a mud puddle...

takes less than 15 min to pull and axle.....remove wheel, drum, leave brakes on....and remove rear cover and 5/16 bolt holding pin in...pull pin, push axle in a little grab c-clip with magnet and pull axle out..to remove bearing, you'll need a puller/ slap hammer
