17X9 wheels with 96-98 spindles??
I bought 17X9 wheels for the front of my car, and i was about 3 days away from buying 94 spindles and i was looking at the Maximum Motorsport suspension i am going to buy sooner or later, and it says that 96-98 spindles are better than the 94-95 spindles with their suspension.
if you care to read why...:
-spindle is a better choice than the 1994-95 spindle because the MM K-member raises the pivot location of the front control arms from the stock position. As far as the steering geometry goes, this has the same effect as if the rack was lowered by 1", relative to the control arm pivot points.
-Stack-up of required bumpsteer spacers would be about 0.96" less with the 1996-04 spindles, resulting in less flexing of the steering arm, which improves steering response.
BUT-- anyway, my main question is why won't the 17X9 fit, and is there any way to fix that? such as a fender roll or something of that nature?
thanks.

I don't see why the 9 inch wheels won't fit. I don't like the idea of any sort of bump steer kit that extends the tie rod ends. You're just putting more leverage on that knuckle and like they said, reduces response, and who knows in an emergency situations...this is why they don't allow that kind of stuff in FormulaDrift. You can get offset rack bushing to remedy bumpsteer. I've never had any with the car lowered.

i have just heard a lot of people having rubbing issues with 96-98 spindles and 9 inch wide wheels in the front. I plan on slamming my fox on the ground, so i want to make sure that i wont have any rub issues when racing autocross or road race, or at full lock when drifting. How low is your car?

are you talking about rubbing on the control arms or rubbing on the fender?
fender rubbing is caused by the 96 spindles pushing the wheels slightly outward towards the fenders, but from what i have heard, its one of those "happens to some" situations

no idea, i have just head the term "rubbing" on the forums on the 5 lug threads. So then the 96-98 spindles just make the tires rub on the fender, which means rolling the fender would solve that problem?
Do people have issues with control arm rubbing also?

I had the 9 inch wheel rubbing on the control arm while still four lug. The 96 spindle might prevent that but the way my 8 inch wheels fit with 96 spindles...it's hard to say...bolt em on and find out!
