Question Explorer GT40 Intake Help

I have a early GT40/explorer intake im putting on shortly. My question regards the built in EGR. Should I use my stock external EGR or is there some benefit to using the internal one? I have seen many people touch on this in articles but never really explain if they use the internal one or not. I have scoured the net for hours with no results on how to use that internal EGR. Thanks.

BTW- This is going on my 88 GT auto convertible with speed density. I am also putting on AFR165 heads with 1.7 rockers. I figure if it all works it should give me a nice power boost.
