In the end racing any car that has a higher power to weight ratio than you from a roll isn't going to go well.
We agree to disagree then. That's what's great about forums. It's been my experience that most tubo set-ups have some lag from the start (especially most street set-ups), and then they run you down on the big end. If he only lost by 1/2 car length, I believe he could make this up on the holeshot. I do agree with you that the power to weight ratio is a factor, but isn't it possible for a car with less peak horsepower, to out run a car with more peak horsepower, even though they weigh the same?. Wouldn't it all depend on where in the band the motor makes it's horsepower and torque?

but if you know how to drive, and you have a 5-spd car, youll be in a gear where as soon as you floor it, your turbo will be spooling. lets say for instance, you have an '03 Golf GTi with a GT28RS turbo setup and an '03 Golf GTi with a GT35R turbo setup. if theyre both in 2nd gear doing a roll, say @ 45, and theyre both taching @ 3500(these are just random numbers and im a euro car freak which is why i picked a GTi), when they floor it, say AT THE EXACT TIME, the car with the GT28RS will pull out at first, because its made to spool RIGHT NOW, while once you get higher in rev's, the GT35R will more than likely catch it and pass it just because a 35R turbo can sustain a LOT more power than a GT28RS which tops out @ 400hp. but the non-lag issue with the 28RS will give it immediate max boost which at that time will give it more horsepower until they reach whatever revs the GT35R makes the most power, however if the car with the 28RS setup is far enough in front, the other one may not catch it. turbos are a whole 'nother subject of their own. too much technical "stuff" to take into effect. haha. but i love the sound of them.
