Breaking in clutch? help please
I just picked up a center force dual friction clutch and im going to put it in my 88 GT and i have heard on this forum a couple different times about breaking in performance clutches and i dont exactly know whats that aboutm. Im getting my flywheel re surfaced at a machine shop because it was a little charred. Any Insight? would be really appreciated thanks

What he said.
Basically, even though the parts are all either brand-new or freshly re-machined, you still need the surfaces to wear in to each other on a near-microscopic level, eliminate little "high spots", etc., so you don't get local overheating or burning.
Don't slip it any more than necessary to get the car rolling in 1st gear and avoid harsh "clutch drops".

no burnouts or anything like that. in town driving, a lot of smooth engagement and normal driving will break it in. i drove about 400 easy miles on mine before i raced it or did any burn outs. you can glaze a clutch easier than you think
