I have seen them bring that. Cobras bring even more. If it is a garage queen and never seen the rain, I can see it bringing that easy.

Most people that buy them new and only put a few thousand on them a year are going to ask around that for them. Mostly because they would rather not sell it. 100,000 is pushing it to fall in to that class of cars though.

I paid $4300USD cash for mine about a month ago. It's an '89 GT that's had a motor & trans swap from a '91 LX. There are about 130,000 miles on the drivetrain. If you look in my garage you can see all the mods that have been done - basically things Ford should have done from the factory just like a lot of other foxes here. My frame is straight, almost completely rust free, and the body/paint/interior are in excellent condition. My 302 also runs perfect, exceedingly well for a high mileage vehicle and doesn't leak oil or coolant.

If he's asking $8k it'd better be really nice (especially if it's stock), and if it is, try to talk him down to $5k then walk and find something else. My car has thousands of dollars worth of work into it to set it up nice, and I still wouldn't have paid more than what I did for it (the seller was asking $4500USD). If I had bought a bone-stock car, I think I might've shelled out $2k. I found one near here (also a white '89 GT) that would've been around that much but had some ominous ticks going on...

yeah i really liked the car when i saw it but the mileage is a big turn off for me.
I would want to rebuild the engine if it had that high miles seeing as im kinda lookin for a little project. But i like that stock look of those gt's.

He did say he was a little flexible but 3 grand difference is very flexible so idk

Hey, high mileage isn't always the end of the world .

Like I said I've got ~130k miles on my motor and it runs great. Better than any other car I've seen on the road, actually. It's kind of creepy how responsive it is.

That said, it does have Ford Racing roller rockers on it, so the valve train must have been redone sometime in the pretty recent past (mileage-wise). Actually, I think I'll get in touch with the previous owner and ask him when that was done...

so should i not worry about the miles? because like i said with that mileage i thought about the fact that i could just rebuild it at some point. plus that would give me a reason to have it bored out

That motor is just broke in.

You can learn a lot about a car by a car fax as far as how it was drove by owners. 5 people had owned my car before me. This car only has 103,000. The first 3 drove it a total of 36,000 up until the year 2004. The next owner drove the shizz out of the car and it really went down. It had been sitting a long time then the manager at the Ford truck dealership in Louisville Kentucky bought it. He bought it off the rack at the mechanics shop while the car was having a clutch put in. After 3 months, he sold it to me.

but i've just never seen it around before which in a small town like this any nice clean car gets noticed. And its my neighbor, sure we've only been nieghbors for 3 months now but still i think i woulda seen him drive it at some point.

I would really like to give him an offer on it but unfortunately i am having troubles selling the car i currently own
