85 non roller motor 30 over build, looking for ideas
#11
just did a 351 in a bronco a few weeks back and the heads were bad and side by side they were the same as the e7 heads....except for the head bolt holes, now of course i'm refering to latemodel 351 stuff

ive heard of people using ones i think from the 80s and they said they have bigger valves and chambers...and also that they didnt seem to have any gain, if not a loss.what brand of carb do you recommend? 650? what brand is the most reliable. ive heard bad stuff about all of the big names. heard holley is complete crap, but i dont know first hand.whats the best off the self intake to go with said carb?i like my equal length macs but im thinkn long tubes if i build a differant car and i need to adress the temporary 5 (t5) reliability. how do carbed 302s respond to a turbo? i have all the crane cams ignition to help out with forced induction. i wouldnt do it to this motor, maybe with forged pistons

carbs and turbos are fine, but a blow through carb and hat must be used, as for holley's being junk...only to those who don't know how to tune them they are.....edlebrocks are for those people.....

it stays tuned fine, you just have to understand where to address the tune and on what circuit based on the issues/probs you are experiencing, tune a carb is all in the individual such as properly setting the idle, setting timing, tuning the primaries and secondaries and the accelerator pump circuit, and or picking the proper power valve, Based on my experience I have found edelbrocks to be a decent bolt on carb with minimal tuning involved on mild motors, but in the same respect the holleys have always delivered better throttle response and just seem to be more responsive then the CARTER AFB design/edelbrock...infact on my 92 i RUN A EDELBROCK 1405
