yesterday in the best buy parking lot i went to engage my parking brake and as i pulled up on the handle all of a sudden it shot as far back as it would go as if the cable had snapped. now the handle moves up and down almost effortlessly as long as you push in the button. im not so worried about it not being functional at the moment but i believe the brakes are still partially applied. i can hear a faint scratching or screeching noise. i want to know if theres a way to release the brake if the cable is indeed broken. i have yet to get under the car but any tips would be appreciated
