Default More 5.0 intake questions

just wondering, ive seen posts to not put more than a 65mm TB on a stock manifold. would a 75 or 70mm TB be better on the Trick Flow: Track Heat manifold on a 94 5.0 (SN95)? I will also be putting 30 lbs injectors on, along with tuned airflow sensor. Also, what brand would i wanna go with for this TB. i've seen posts about BBKs sticking and having idle problems, should i go straight to (Zabtek, i think) something along the lines of that. loll

An intake will increase your airflow a little bit. But your cylinder heads still will not pull enough air through that throttle body. Your heads will be at "full throttle" before the pedal is pushed all the way. That's no fun. Not to mention it will be more sensitive to your foot movement because it will pull in more air with the same amount of pedal travel. That sucks on a bumpy road.

I installed a 75mm edelbrock tbody on my 89 stang and i think it killed some throttle response. I have 30 lb injectors with edelbrock heads and intake. I would stay with 65 or 70mm.

yea the ehads are killer, if you can pick up some gt40 or 351's or trick flow heads to match the intake your car will have some serious power, i had a 75 mm on my stock 94 gt an then on the cobra intake, deff made my car a tad slower, but i figd why buy the same part twice, just get the biggest on efirst and build the car up to it

You'd see more gain getting a set of GT40 iron heads and keeping the stock TB than you would by just putting a TB on it...

Don't want to sound like a wet blanket but 30# injectors seems like way overkill IMHO; are you plannin' any power adders for that injector? An N/A 302 should be able to make around 350 crank horse on the stock 19#'s - then you step it up to 24# for more. You don't really want to overkill on injector size because the fuel will not be completely atomizing in that case. Gotta have the airflow to back the fuel.

i discussed your responses with one of my friends, he said getting heads would be a waste, because my engine won't be lasting much longer. i have 150k miles on it, last owner said it was properly tuned at his own shop.... idk ???

Your friend probably doesnt know what he's talking about. 150k is a lot of mileage generally speaking yes but our motors last forever. +1 on the stock injector your sn95 computer wont like #30 injectors very much, I myself am currently doing a h/c/i upgrade on stock injectors if someone wants to sell me TF heads and a TF stage1 for cheap.

5.0-5.8 motors last forever. My 87 stang had 245k on it when I sold it It drank a quart every 1000miles. DO the build if you start burning oil then build a 306 or something..youll still have the parts. Where I work I frequently see 300k miles on ford vans and pickups even broncos with non HO motors..Still it goes to show Ford can make a V8 last. Even the latemodel 5.4 2v motors any daily mechanics on here will back me up on this.
