Default clutch cable

so i recently had a clutch change. i bought a stage 2 performance clutch along with a new flywheel. I had this garage install it for me. After that at first i noticed a burning smell. I was assured that this was because there was the flywheel was not molded properly and in time it would "fix itself".

Anyhow recently i noticed it was really hard to switch gears when the engine was running (mainly just putting it into first when the car was stationary). I figured the clutch cable needed some adjustment, but the mechanic said that my 89LX had an automatic clutch adjustment. I know you can pop the clutch up and it adjusts it to a small degree, but is there another way to adjust it?

Also I wanted to know if anyone has had the same experience as me where I bought a clutch cable from autozone. It was a brand named Pioneer. I bought one while ago and it cut about ten miles after driving. I had to put the stock one back in. I bought another one today thinking it was just that solitary cable, but it happened again!

A lot of "store" bought cables are shyt! Just spend the extra chedda and get an oe one from the dealer. As far as the adjustment, was the ratcheting mechanism for the quadrant reset upon installing the new clutch?

Agree, get the ford cable. I have been through so many other brands. The fords are not that much more expensive. If you decide to change out the stock quadrant get the ford racing cable.

I agree the OE replacements work well. We carry an aftermarket OE replacement that's made well also.
