U/D Pulley Problems
#21
Well I went to get some lunch. Car ran fine until it was warmed up and started doing the same thing again. Sputters. So after I ate I check the plug wire connections, dizzy cap and rotor. Everything looks fine. There was some carbon buildup on the underside of the cap where the rotor hits it but that was it. Any other ideas? Please help!

are there any particular spots on the caps where the contact seems more burned than others? If so, check the associated cylinder for cracked plugs or plug boots that are rubbing on the headers. Sounds like it could be secondary voltage leak (spark not making it to the plug because it grounds out somewhere else other than at the plug like it should.)

Hmm.. let us know how things are after you check the plugs and plug boots.
On the plugs, look for black marks on the porcelain or white marks on the steel body of the plug.
On the boots, look for a white powder on the outside of the boot.
All of those marks are indicative of a secondary spark leak. Spark jumping out somewhere it shouldn't.

So I was able to take a break at work. So me and my friend that works with me knows a little about cars checked out the distributor and wires. I guess I had the cap on backwards. So we switched that around. There was also a wire that looks like it may touch the header once in awhile so I zip tied it farther away. I will see how it runs on the way home. If it still does it then I will pull the wires off the plugs.
