Default Help with vibration

My 89 lx hatch has a vibration on the freeway around 65-70. I feel it more in the shifter than the steering wheel. If I push the clutch in it immediately stops and smoothes out. Ive ruled out a wheel since it goes away with the clutch in. Any help?

Not really. I can get off the gas and the vibration wil get better as speed decreases. It definitely seems to be speed related. I dont get the vibration at high rpm's in 2nd or 3rd. Only above 70 or so...

Have the driveshaft balanced. I bet that's whats causing the vibration.

i bet the vibration is in the rear end, loading and unloading of the pinion i likely the cause.. however, id get under the car and check the U-joints, transmission mount, and pinion free play

Cool

I have this same problem on my 90 LX but it comes at 3,000 RPMs. Any any ideas about that?

I know you said you feel it in the shifter but, check the steering linkage, like the tie rod ends, swaybar end links, and inner tie rods too.
