Default Mass Air Question?

Has anyone else dropped in a C&L Mass Air Housing and the car just smelled like it was running rich??? Don't get me wrong, the hesitation i had off idle is gone and it runs much better. Just smells like it's running a lot richer then it was. Maybe I'm just paranoid or something but thought I'd ask.

so you're saying c&l is crap, thats a good start, what mass air sensor did you use? I'm honestly curious. And enfausn why don't you switch out the c&l with the stock and see if it makes a difference, and btw did you clean the maf sensor? with the stock housing in?

I sprayed the element off with carb cleaner when i dropped it in the housing, but i think I'll pull it out and do it again just to be sure. I bought the c&l cause i liked the idea of just changing tubes down the road when I step up the injectors. It runs alright just smells different. I think I'm just a perfectionist.......LOL. Car is due for a tuneup anyway so I think I'll pull the plugs and check the timing sometime this weekend. I just had the valve covers off it last week to fix a leak so I'll have to check and make sure I didn't jar something loose to I guess. Could a cracked vacuum line cause something like that? Maybe I cracked one while I was doing the valve cover gaskets.

i would suggest not using carb cleaner it will leave a residue on the sensor and it bad for it they sell mass air flow cleaner at advance for like 7 bucks that vaporizes and leaves no residue.

I bought it with the 19 lb tube since I still have the stock injectors.....Thanks for the heads up on the carb cleaner. Checked the timing yesterday...It was a little off. Seems like Thhat fixed most of it. I'll pick up a can of MAF cleaner and let ya know. thanks yall
