Hey guys, thanks for all the advise here. I'm pretty new and my 88 vert's heater is doing the same thing. I read 19stang88's links as well, does anybody have an easy step by step write up as to how to back flush it? How to I prevent junk from getting all over the carpet...etc etc etc

Disconnect hoses to heater in engine compartment from the engine. Run water flow through the hose that will end up by thermostat. This is opposite dirrection of normal flow(backflush). When runs clear and steady stream run through the normal flow. Water will all be in engine compartment area. Get can of WD 40 to spray on plug wires to disperse water.
