Default please mustangs having problems. maybe cap and rotor please help!

Okay i know alot of you guys get annoyed buy guys that have no clue whats going on but i really need help and im tryin my hardest to learn . lol. so i have a 1995 mustang gt 5 speed, and it was running great up until recently, it feels really weak, it doesnt feel like its running on all cylinders and after driving around for a while, when it gets hot the speedometer goes haywire and the car will eventually turn off, i checked the cap and rotor and there is carbon build up, could this be the issue or anything else?

look for melted plug wires on the headers....and your t-stat ? did it have a check ball in it ? or did you just get a 302 t-stat ?
